Ranjan Basu, an experienced photographer & photojournalist started his career in 1982 and has worked across media houses. He started his career with the legendary Photographer Raghu Rai, in The India Today Group. He has to his credit publications like Hindustan Times and Asian Age. He was the group photo editor for Planman Media. Basu has covered many important news events in the last three decades and his work has been published in major newspapers and magazines across the world.

He is the recipient of numerous awards, including a National Award in 2008, awarded by the Government of India. He spent 14 days with Naxal cadres in the Chattisgarh jungle to cover their lifestyle, amongst other such projects, he has also covered the lifestyle of the Defense force at the Siachen base camp. His work has been featured in a coffee table book, ‘Childhood in India’, published by UNICEF. The pictures submitted in the book were widely appreciated. His work assignments have made him travel across the country. He also shot & captured one of the most beautiful places on earth, Ladhak, landscapes at the world’s highest motorable road, Khardungla pass. To his credit is his work at the Indian Pakistan border in Poonch – Rajouri area. Ranjan is an accredited photojournalist with the Press Information Bureau and the Government of India.  In his free time, Ranjan loves to teach photography and is associated with photography schools. He loves to shoot & click in the available lights, his passion for street photography ensures that his feet are always on the street, camera-ready, waiting to capture a frame. An eye to detailing and precision is his trademark.
